We decided to go up to Arlington on the last day of Run for the Fallen to see the guys off and of course pay tribute to those veterans who have lost their lives for our country. It was my first time visiting Arlington National Cemetery & it was amazing. About 200 people were there for the closing remarks, and after Jon spoke about their last few months and his experience, we walked as a group through Arlington National Cemetery to where the Soldiers who served in Iraq were burried. We were able to place a few pebbles on 2 different headstones of men who lost their lives serving in Iraq. Mark T. Carter, Chief Petty Officer Navy SEAL & Capt. Benjamin D Tiffner, Special Forces ODA Team Leader - both exceptional leaders who gave the ultimate sacrifice. The pebbles are a sign that someone has come to pay tribute and that the soldier has not been forgotten. We also paid a visit to the Tomb of Unknown Soldiers, which is guarded 24 hours a day, 236 days a year by specially trained members of 3rd United States Infantry (The Old Guard). Very impressive.
